Eccleshall Book Launch

Saturday 14th June 2014 saw the launch of the Eccleshall Great War Project book at Eccleshall Library after a year of in depth research by a dedicated team of local volunteers. The event brought together researchers, family members of those listed on the memorial and military historian, Stephen Edwards.

The project aimed to research the family and military history of the 46 names on the War Memorial in Holy Trinity Churchyard and to create a more detailed and lasting epitaph. By the spring of 2014 all of the names had been identified, and each entry on the project web site had substantial background history and photographs. The criteria for names to be eligible for inclusion on the memorial may never be known as the Parish records of the time no longer exist. All had a connection to Eccleshall but not all were born in the Parish.
